Our integrated innovation program combines research in new modes of action, breeding techniques and gene discovery to develop and provide sustainable crop solutions in crop protection, traits and seeds.
Between 2009 to 2018, BayerCropScience will invest a total of €3.5 billion in the expansion of BioScience, including research and development in new seeds and plant biotechnology products offering enhanced yields, quality and better resource utilization.
Our seed and trait research pipeline will deliver customers new, smarter choices and better seeds with built-in features that effectively deal with the climate and pest challenges of today and the future. Our primary innovation areas in crop protection include: o Innovative active ingredients and new modes of action o Development of new products, combinations, formulation and application technologies o Plant health (stress tolerance, yield increase, food quality) o New approaches in biological crop protection and diagnostics
Bayer CropScience utilizes multiple technology platforms beyond chemistry to develop crop protection products. These include biochemistry, biology, genomics, bioinformatics, high-throughput screening and combinatorial chemistry.
Over the next two years, Bayer CropScience will introduce six new active ingredients. Among these are three fungicides from a new generation of fungal respiratory chain inhibitors. They belong to the new and unique chemical class of pyridinyl-ethyl-benzamides, which not only control plant diseases, but also offer outstanding additional benefits.
