


| Institute site – West Virginia Ninety fifth graders from an area school planted four hardwood trees at the school as part of the Institute site’s and school’s participation in UNEP’s Plant for the Planet: The Billion Tree Campaign. The Institute site, through Making Science Make Sense® volunteers, purchased and donated the trees to Nitro Elementary School and provided each student and their teachers with an interactive CD with information on trees and their role in the environment. |
| Muskegon site - Michigan |
| Joined with the Michigan Chemistry Council and others to host the community’s annual Mayfest event. They were able to take advantage of this popular venue to raise awareness of science, the environment and the company. The Making Science Make Sense® presentations as well as The Billion Tree Campaign giveaways of Douglas Fir saplings made up key components of the company’s successful and popular outreach to the community. |

| Revitalizing its support for introducing hands-on science into classrooms in a number of rural counties in Kansas, BRP employees initiated a unique program through Kansas State University, in which the university coordinates bringing hands-on science education to schools through the state’s county extension agents. BRP provides funding for materials and training for this inventive program that allows more school children to discover, firsthand, the excitement of science |
