Thilo Nagel is the Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Bayer CropScience and Head of Business Planning and Administration for North America.
Thilo was born in Leverkusen, Germany, in 1962. After finishing high school in 1981 and military service in 1982, he joined Bayer AG in 1983 and received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Chamber of Commerce in Cologne in 1986. Subsequently he continued with Bayer in the Crop Protection Sales Support organization Region Europe in Monheim until 1989.
From 1989 to 1994 he was responsible for the CP Controlling, Import- & Export, Garden and Industrial Business at Bayer Hispania in Barcelona, Spain.
In 1994 he joined the Regional and BU Controlling Team in Monheim supporting Region Latin America and the Fungicides unit. Two years later, he became head of the regional and business unit Controlling Team, where he oversaw as well the budget and strategic planning process until 1998.
From 1999 to 2004 he supported as Team Lead for Finance & Controlling within the O&I organization several SAP projects such as the first CP migration within Bayer AG to SAP, carve out of Bayer CropScience AG as a prerequisite for the integration of Aventis and the first legal entity roll-in projects Bayer CropScience with Bayer CropScience GmbH, Bayer CropScience Ltd., UK and Bayer CropScience France.
From 2004 to 2005 Thilo was head of Planning and Controlling Instruments for Bayer CropScience AG. He then moved to Lyon, France, in 2005 to be Head of Planning, Controlling and IT for the Business Group Environmental Science.
He moved to Research Triangle Park in March 2009 to serve in his current role.
